Peace, contentment and happiness are hard to come by in today’s terror-filled times. Living amidst bombs, physical and mental afflictions, pollution, commuting problems, stress at work and home often make life difficult. In these conditions the relevance of yogic science is paramount. When you try to conquer others you fail miserably, when you try to master yourself it is easy to inspire others too, towards ultimate beatitude. The human mind gets bewildered as it is called upon to select action from among a plethora of philosophies. What is right, what is wrong? Yoga has a clear-cut answer: Whenever you are in doubt as to what to do, and what not to do, refer to the scriptures, says the Gita (16:24). Humankind is desperate to acquire wealth, desperate to outshine others by any means but not desperate to solve these problems in the way God wants us to solve them. This results in severe distress, pain and disappointment. Due to growing decadence, human values are getting eroded and there is a climate of indifference. Yoga and ayurveda have natural, divine, scriptural solutions for the myriad complexities facing humanity today. Often even practitioners of yoga aim their sadhana towards acquiring siddhis or supernatural capabilities or awakening kundalini power. This can create problems. Sadhana should be directed towards obtaining proximity to God and towards ultimate realisation. Today, despite the many facilities available, many of us suffer in body, mind and spirit. The remedy in yogic tradition is to adopt righteousness i.e be established in dharma to the best of your capacity, then combine that with a set of yogic kriyas and natural healing methods. This will bring miraculous results. Communion with the divine is the most important achievement in one’s life. Once that connectivity is established no amount of outwardly upheavals adversely affects the person. Yoga is all about the establishment of that link; the establishment of the reciprocity of thoughts between the bhakta and bhagwan or the devotee and God. Lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, backache, cervical spondylitis, cancer, hernia, AIDS, psychiatric ailments and migraine can be effectively tackled in the tradition of yoga and ayurveda. What is needed is firm resolve to unshackle ourselves of the self-imposed limiting habits and then adopt these divinely serene sciences for one’s total well-being. In today’s context the dichotomy is complete. While we see economic growth around us with a young demographic profile, we witness suffering and afflictions of mind and body in large numbers. People have become very weak from within; their resolve, their ‘samskaras’ (moral habits and previous mental impressions) are falling apart, leading to bad karma, making the jiva get embroiled in the painful karmic cycle. Yoga teaches us how to dismantle it once and for all and lead a fulfilling life in the true sense of the word. More on........... http://kaalchakra0.tripod.com http://kaalchakra.bravehost.com
